The Best Apple Pie Ever
This easy homemade apple pie with a easy flaky crust will be your new favorite thing
Equipment
- 1/2 cup Butter Cold and sliced
- 1 cup Brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 pie crusts, one for top and one for bottom easy pie crust recipe is on my blog
- 1-2 tsp cinnamon you do you
- 6 small to medium sized baking apples I used Granny Smith, green apples
- 1 egg for brushing over the top crust this egg will be scrambled and painted on the top crust for color and shine -optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 FPrepare pie crust recipe and divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll out the pie crust on a lightly floured surface. Use a plate to cut out a round shape for the top and bottom of your pie. Roll the cut out crust onto a rolling pin for easy transport.In your DEEP DISH PAN, Place 1 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup of butter; place in the oven to melt the butter. Once melted, stir the butter and sugar together. Lay your first pie crust over the top of the butter and brown sugar. Pour in sliced apple slices and arrange so that the top is somewhat even and flat. Sprinkle with one cup regular white sugar over the apples, dust cinnamon over the top of the sugar.Place second pie crust over the apples and sugar and cinnamon. If your top crust is one solid piece, cut at least three vents in the top of the crust. If you are using a decorative cut out top you can skip the venting step.Scramble one egg and lightly brush it all over the top of the pie. This step enhances the appearance of the pie by giving it a nice shiny golden brown top. You can omit this step if you want but I prefer the look it gives my pie.Bake for 45 minutes or until apples are tender. Be sure the edges don’t burn by wrapping them in foil or using a pie shield if necessary. Serve warm
