I’m not gonna lie, this is probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. And when I tell you it’s easy…I promise you it’s the easiest thing you’ll ever do and you’ll look like a super star when you serve it. There’s one thing to remember about this recipe: One batch of sauce should cover two chicken breasts. One chicken breast can make two sandwiches. Double and triple accordingly.

The ingredients list here is simple and easy to find. Hot sauce, unsalted butter, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and white vinegar. You can add additional cayenne pepper if you just like it hot. I did not add salt but if you need it, you do you.

The easiest part of this whole thing is the chicken. I put three chicken breasts in my crockpot, nothing else. No water. No salt. Just chicken. Four hours on high or six hours low. Just make sure it’s done all the way through. If you do not have time to thaw your chicken you can put it in frozen but always start with a cold crockpot and allow extra cooking time. Believe it or not those frozen instructions were included in older cookbooks. If you’re not comfortable with it then please thaw your chicken first. I’d never want you worried about what you’re eating.

I used my mixer to shred the chicken and blend in the finished sauce.

Build your sandwich. I used artisan bread topped with the seasoned chicken and added sharp cheddar cheese. I grilled my sandwich in butter on in a medium high heated nonstick skillet.

You can dip it ranch dressing or if you’re really brave you can go for extra sauce. Warning: It’s gonna be good.
Y’all be sweet.

Grilled Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
Equipment
- crockpot
- small sauce pan
- Measuring cup
- measuring spoons
- Whisk
Ingredients
- 5 ounces Cayenne hot sauce I used Fred's
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1.5 tbsp white vinegar
- 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- cayenne pepper if it's not hot enough for you
Instructions
- In your crockpot – allow chicken breasts to cook until tender: low for four hours or high for up to six if needed. Shred chicken and set aside while you prepare the sauce.
- Melt butter in a small sauce pan with other ingredients. Allow the sauce to come just up to a simmer, whisk to blend well, remove from heat and set aside. Recipe can be doubled our tripled to cover the amount of chicken you have prepared. One batch could easily cover two chicken breasts and make four sandwiches depending on how thick you stack the chicken.
- Mix sauce into shredded chicken
- Build your grilled cheese sandwich by putting chicken on the bread, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, smooth each outside piece of bread with butter and grill in a nonstick skillet like you would any other grilled cheese sandwhich.
- Dip sandwich in ranch dressing or additional sauce if desired.
